The Anouk Foundation murals contribute to a calmer, welcoming, more engaging adn especially child-friendlier environment. It would be so helpful to have these murals in many more places.

The murals create an uplifting atmosphere for the residents and the professionals working here. The theme of the drawings addresses the multicultural aspect of the place in a playful way. In the pre-kindergarden area European squirrels climb on a Asian camels back just as naturally as Eritrean and Afghan children play together.

All participated : the residents young and old, the social team and the artists! All felt involved and respected! The project brought cohesion and life to the centre and what is great is that the project continues to live on long after the Anouk team has left.

The building transformed from institutional to colorful, no more white and gray walls everywhere ! We are impressed by the quality of the images and the value of the messages conveyed, especially along gender equality and respect of others. The children find the images fun and the adults think it is an improvement color, nature images and happy people on the walls.

Anouk foundation has perfectly replied to our needs by creating a kit and a training for our residents. We now have a tool that can serve as a valuable and soothing occupation for the residents. Today, visitors who arrive at the centre, especially those who knew it before, are all impressed by the change and are delighted with the positive impact of the murals and the centres new atmosphere.
Sonja Rüfenacht, Manager of the federal Asylum Center Vallorbe, Swiss State Secretariat of Migration (SEM)
Bringing colour in collaboration with the residents was an obvious choice for us to give them joy. The change brought by the murals really is impressive, they completely transformed the atmosphere of this place for residents and the people who work here.

The murals create a very calming and relaxing atmosphere in the center for asylum seekers. This has a very positive effect on the relationships between the residents.

For the asylum seekers it is really helpful to arrive in such a place where they can rest, breathe and day-dream a little bit. They have struggled so much during their exodus. One of our refugees, Mr F., often tells us that the murals bring joy and life! It’s an encouragement to integrate Switzerland for him.

Refugee and asylum centers would greatly benefit from the Anouk Foundation murals. The residents benefited from the improved atmosphere and the participatory approach enabled them to be involved in various phases of the project.
